The RE course has been included in five engineering curricula (electrical, mechanical, computer, telecommunication and mechatronics). PU engineering students are expected to work on two main projects during their studies: a second and a fifth year project. These projects provide students with essential practical skills such as design, testing and implementation. The methodology and experience in developing project courses at PU has been highlighted in Tutunji et al. (2007, 2009). Project-based learning and problem-based education are important factors in undergraduate design courses (Denayer et al. 2003).
One main goal of engineering programmes is to develop practical skills that can help to improve engineering products and systems.
